The Task
We visited Sandra Barnes, her husband Jonathan Gammell along with their dog Cooper at their home in Wicklow to chat about their experience. When they started their self-build journey, one thing that was important to them was natural light. They designed and positioned the house to get the most from the sun throughout the day. Sandra and Jonathan enquired from neighbours and nearby new builds as to where they sourced their windows from and Senator’s name seemed to pop up quite a bit. Sandra found that everyone’s feedback was positive which made their decision very easy.

The Solution
During the design phase, their Senator representative saw their vision and created the perfect windows and doors design. They wanted windows with large glass expanses and as they were using a ventilation system they opted for a lot of picture windows with just one window opening in each room. Picture windows frame the view outside like a picture. They are fixed, meaning they don’t open and the frame size is reduced complementing the view. They chose triple glazing and wanted a particular colour, 7012 Grey, which Senator offered within the wide uPVC colour range. They selected three Sentinel Composite Doors for their home – The Roscrea for the front door and the Dromoland for the back door the garage door.
When they looked at their finished home, Sandra and Jonathan said that from first point of contact with Senator, their experience was flawless. Their windows capture the light perfectly and frames their amazing views. Sandra thinks it says a lot when her brother was building his new home and also went with Senator for his windows and doors on their recommendation.
